This concert featured a performance of Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors, a one-act opera performed in English, telling the story of a 12-year-old boy and his visit with the three kings. The orchestra accompanied this staged production with several solo singers, a shepherds' chorus and dancers. The December 8 performance also included:
